Swissôtel
Göcek Beach

Though it is located on one of the Mediterranean's most
beautiful coasts,
Swissôtel Gocek Marina Resort had a
major disadvantage : there was no beach around the resort for the guests to
enjoy the sea and the sun!
The resort's coast was
composed of rocky cliffs and it almost had no access to sea at all.
When we were contacted by the investor group Anadolu Tourism
Investment Inc., we
proposed a detailed design study based on our experiences gained in
similar projects for holiday resorts like Club Lykia World and Robinson Club Maris.
Following the approval of the proposal, the studies began in August 1999
with comprehensive analysis of wave and current climate of the area and the possibility
of forming an
artificial beach with nourished material was investigated.
The final beach design required construction of three groins for
protection against wave attack. Considering the functionality of the
beach for resorts guests, the groins were designed as sunbathing piers
on piles. Under the piers, between the piles were installed precast
concrete panels to provide impermeability.
Today, Swissôtel
guests enjoy the sun and the sea on this engineered beach. |
