Gocek Portville
Villas on water
Gocek Portville developed by Anadolu Tourism Investments Co of Turkon
Holding will consist of many villas to be built in the area between
Swissotel and Port Gocek. One of the most outstanding features of
the complex is the artificial canal system placed around the villas
to allow the residents reach their homes by small boats. Even,
basements of some of the villas are designed as boathouses to allow
the sea water in.
Being aware of
its central role inside the overall architectural concept, The
Investor group gave special importance to the assessment of the
water quality inside the canals. After working with a university to
carry out laboratory model tests, the design of the canal system was
finally awarded to ARTI Proje in May 2005.
We started with
setting up a 2-D numerical hydrodynamic and water quality model of
the canal system. Considering sea level changes, the areas with
stagnant flow conditions inside the canal were identified and an
artificial circulation system were developed and tested in the
model. The structures for water intake from sea and discharge into
the canal were designed along with pumping stations and circulation
piping system. The design of concrete canal walls and other wooden
canal structures including groins at the canal entrance and mooring
decks were also completed.
An automated
canal gate was designed for the canal entrance. The gate was aimed
to allow de-watering of the canal for periodic maintenance.
After close
collaboration with the expert groups involved in the project,
including infrastructure designer Sigal, landscape designer Peyzaj
Tasarim and architectural group Cemal Mutlu, we completed the
detailed design of the whole canal system in September 2005.
Construction of the Portville has
recently been completed and ARTI has provided consulting and
supervision services
to the Investor throughout the construction period.
