Candarli Container Port

Having conducted the ground breaking ceremony for the Candarlı Container Port Project in June 2011, the breakwater construction of the world’s 10th largest and Turkey’s biggest container port has officially commenced. ARTI Proje has been awarded the design works by the Contractor, a joint venture between Limak and Kolin, two  of Turkey’s leading contractors.

Candarlı Container Port shall have a capacity in excess  of 12 million TEU's and is aiming to be listed among the   first 10 ports of the world. Ministry of Transportation has already planned extensive motorway and railway network connections to the port, a portion of which have already been tendered.

Often referred to as “the North Aegean’s crazy project” in the Turkish press due to its enormous size and the technical difficulties associated with the project’s engineering, Candarlı Container Port carries a great degree of importance for the economies of both Turkey   and the region.

ARTI Proje’s engineering team, composed of dedicated marine and geotechnical experts, are taking up the challenge and working hard on developing efficient and economical designs for the project’s marine structures.

  • estimate the pipe size and the material,

  • evaluate the possibilities of optimizing the line length

  • review the geotechnical conditions in the area

  • develop a full BOQ

The original design by the Client estimates the outfall line will have a total length of 6500 m. and will require pipe diameter of 1600 mm. February 2003

TEFER Flood Forecast and Early Warning System Project is successfully completed

The TEFER Project, carried out for State Hydraulic Works, (DSI) and financed by the World Bank, aimed the development of flood early warning system for four major catchments of Turkey.
ARTI Proje Consulting was subconsultant to DHI Water and Environment of Denmark in the project and provided both modelling and project management services. The other sub-consulting partners were Einfalt from Germany and UBM from Turkey.

The system basically uses the online field data including water level, rainfall, radar images for areal rainfall, temperature and evaporation to simulate the hydraulic conditions in the catchments. The core of the modelling system is based on the software MIKE11. The forecast results are presented in the form of GIS based flood maps in addition to regular graphic, table and report formats. System also has an internet interface to publish the forecast results via internet.
